Forbrain Review: Does The Headset Help Improve Dyslexia?

When my child was diagnosed with dyslexia, I felt utterly overwhelmed. I wanted to help her but was unsure what resources were available. If you have a dyslexic child, maybe you’ve felt the same way. After starting intensive tutoring, we found a gem of a tool that elevated the work we were already doing. It’s because we have had so much success with this resource that I am excited to share my Forbrain review with you.

What is Forbrain?

The Forbrain headset by Sound for Life is an innovative tool that uses 30+ years of research to improve speech, attention, and memory. This unique device uses the body’s natural auditory feedback loop to enhance language skills, attention span, and memory.

I’ve never seen a device like this before. Forbrain isn’t like a typical headset with earphones and microphone. No. This is a bone conduction headset. The sensors sit in front of the ears, and the person wearing the headset is the only one who hears the microphone.

My kids thought it was the coolest thing ever to hear themselves speaking loudly and clearly, but no one else in the room could hear a difference. Forbrain benefits the wearer – not the surrounding people.

Who Best Benefits from Forbrain?

There is so much value when any child can hear and understand themselves more clearly. But it’s precious for neurodivergent children. Many things can get in the way of this.

  • Speech Issues
  • Attention Difficulties
  • Hearing Deficits
  • Auditory Processing Disorder
  • Sensory Processing Disorder
  • Dyslexia

Forbrain is helpful for anyone who struggles with one or many of these challenges.

What About Forbrain and Dyslexia?

However, for this Forbrain review, I will focus on our experience with my dyslexic child, who also has ADHD. Before I knew much about dyslexia, I thought it meant the person only saw letters mixed up, which caused reading difficulty. Nope. This is a common misconception.

Well, let me tell you, I have learned so much! Dyslexia comes with all kinds of language difficulties and challenges with communication skills. Everything from speech difficulties to short term memory challenges can be affected. Furthermore, it is common to have auditory processing disorders along with dyslexia. Dyslexia is so much more than a slower reading speed.

Forbrain addresses so many of these things with its bone conduction technology! With their bone conduction headphones, Forbrain gives the wearer sensory stimulation, providing sound vibrations that go straight to the inner ear. The sound of your own voice is heightened, making it easy to adjust and fine-tune speech clarity. The dynamic filter also decreases distracting background noise. All of these features work together to provide better sensory integration.

When a dyslexic person can hear and understand the words they read more effectively, they progress and conquer their challenges faster.

Use Forbrain for only 15 minutes a day and see the difference!

What Does My Dyslexic Child Say?

My daughter had her own thoughts to add to this Forbrain review. On the first day of wearing the headset, she said she could tell when her words started to get jumbled while reading aloud. This is something she doesn’t usually notice. So, she knew to slow down to read more clearly. She uses it for about 15 minutes a couple of times a day.

Reading clarity is something she is now getting consistently better at. She uses it for about 20 minutes a couple of times a day, and I have also seen her attention and reading stamina increase. All of these things combined address the dyslexic challenges she deals with daily.

Forbrain recommends children aged three years and over practice with the headset for 15 minutes daily. Initially, use it for 6–8 weeks, then take a one-month break to see progress. You can repeat this cycle as often as you want. (Note: Please consult your child’s therapist as they may recommend a tailored use time and program.)

I feel so lucky to have found Forbrain. The benefits I’ve seen ensure that we will continue to use this headset as part of our homeschool day. What’s even better is my daughter is excited to use it. Check out Forbrain for yourself and see what a tremendous difference it can make!
